Liverpool- 1 Sunderland- 1
We were much too slow in possession in this game. There weren’t enough players willing to take a risk on the ball for us to create a significant number of chances.
Player Ratings:
- Alisson- 5. Looked uncharacteristically unconvincing today. He nearly fumbled a long shot in and opted to punch instead of claim a few balls.
- Gomez- 5. Wasn’t threatening enough in an attacking sense today. Jones was much better when he came on out of position at right back.
- Konate- 6. Brobbey put himself about but Konate largely contained him.
- Van Dijk- 5. Gave the ball away very cheaply for Sunderland’s goal.
- Robertson- 5. Did okay but probably should’ve contributed more offensively.
- Gravenberch- 6. An average game for Ryan. It feels like both him and Mac Allister are a bit too ponderous in possession.
- Mac Allister- 6.
- Szoboszlai- 6. Had a couple of decent long shots to stop their keeper from getting bored but along with the rest of the attacking unit he struggled to carve out a clear cut chance.
- Gakpo- 5. Threatened very little in the half he played. It wasn’t a surprise that he was subbed of at half time.
- Wirtz- 6
- Isak- 4. Did very little all game.
Subs:
- Ekitike- 6. Offered a bit more than Isak in terms of link up play when he came on and blazed a late chance over the bar.
- Chiesa- 6. A goal line clearance was the highlight of his night and it underscored his effort whenever he plays.
- Salah- 6. We looked far more threatening down the right when Salah was on although he still struggled to get the better of his man tonight.
- Jones- 6. Won the ball back and found Wirtz in the Sunderland box for his goal.
